How to find Trusted and Professional Wedding Suppliers on your Wedding Planning Journey
Let’s be honest, when it comes to planning a wedding, it’s mind-boggling isn’t it?! From the moment you get engaged your mind will be racing with thoughts and ideas, you might have pinterest boards set up per category and your insta feed won’t ever look the same again.
Don’t get us wrong, you’ll have the most fun ever – we hope and you’ll become in tune with an incredible industry you may have never engaged with before (pun intended)!
How do you start your wedding planning journey and find the perfect wedding supplier for you?
Let’s go back to basics – define your perception of “perfect” first. For us at Wedding Fix, perfection means trusted and professional. With Bridal Reloved behind us, we have a huge network of wedding industry suppliers that we’ve worked with on styled shoots and real weddings so we will always recommend them.
First things first, set your location. If you’ve not chosen your venue, this is a really good place to start. If you’re having a destination wedding in Greece, you probably won’t be able to have your local florist create a fresh flower bouquet. You could choose dried flowers instead which can be flown to your wedding with ease.
Once you’ve chosen your venue, this could be your back garden, the beach, a country house, church or destination, you’ll have an idea of your area radius of which will make it super easy to select some amazing suppliers.
So just where can you find these suppliers?
Depending on where you are getting married, you might have friends who have got married here or know people who have.
1. Word of Mouth
Your chosen venue might have recommended or suppliers they use for the same reason. They most likely have worked with the venue on weddings before and are trusted by them as their operation is seamless.
You might not want to use your venue’s recommended suppliers and they will most likely anticipate this but you may be charged to bring in an alternative. What we will say is, do trust your venue’s recommendations and meet with them first before making any decisions. Of course, if the recommended supplier is already booked you will be able to make alternative arrangements.
2. Wedding Directories
After word of mouth, wedding directories are a great place to start. There are some popular ones who pump out huge amounts of wedding inspiration daily but they can also be a little overwhelming. At Wedding Fix, our ethos is to showcase trusted and professional wedding suppliers who are also eco-friendly – echoing our Bridal Reloved ethos for sustainability.
3. Social Media
Social media is another great way to find your perfect wedding supplier. On Instagram, you can search and follow hashtags if you have decided on a theme for your wedding such as #bohobride #bohowedding which will bring inspiration to you, without you having to try too hard to find it. Pinterest is amazing for mood boards so you can share concept ideas with wedding suppliers such as stylists and planners.
4. Wedding Showcases
Wedding fairs, open days and showcases are another great way to meet suppliers face to face. It’s so important that they match your personality and vibe and they will most likely be interviewing you as much as you are interviewing them! At these events, it’s fun to share ideas and flick through their portfolios or chat through weddings they have done before. You’ll know if you click from the moment you meet and if you want them to work your wedding, after all weddings are a huge financial investment so you need to be sure.
We can promise you that wedding suppliers will not be annoyed or angry if you don’t choose them. They don’t like to be ghosted and most likely if you’ve had a zoom call or meet face-to-face and you decide otherwise – just let them know. Most likely they’ll be holding the date for a grace period for you and you’ll be stopping them getting other bookings.
5. Wedding Magazines
Wedding magazines are a fun way to gain inspiration and find wedding suppliers through styled shoots or listings. The Wedding Fix Digital Magazine is packed with supplier recommendations, styled shoots by Bridal Reloved boutiques and suppliers. You can also keep the photos and add them to your Pinterest boards!
How do I choose a Wedding Supplier?
When choosing your wedding supplier, we have written a handy checklist for you to save:
- Check they are insured!
- Ask if they are accredited / qualified in their area? (if essential)
- Read some of their reviews
- Ask about the booking process – will they issue you with a contract?
- Say hello – in person or via zoom. It’s all about the vibe!
